The Stanford University Office of Science Outreach, in partnership with the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, Learning Games Network, and FableVision, brought together a select group of eight high school students (Grades 9-12) for a Game Jam on the Stanford campus on Saturday, 11 February and Sunday, 12 February 2012. This marks the second jam in association with the Lennon Bus.
With the help of Learning Games Network instructors, Stanford grad students and the Lennon Bus engineers, these young designers were able to conceive, design and build a working game for the iPad in under 48 hours. The game, titled Harvest Hope, debuted on February 13 to visitors at the Stanford Bookstore.
The Bus travels from coast to coast, making stops at K-12 schools, universities, concerts, trade shows, music festivals and more. The staff conducts free tours and allows a group of youths to record an original song and video. Why shouldn’t the next step in youth media literacy be games? Check out this awesome video produced by the Lennon Bus, showcasing the Learning Games Network’s tried and true game design process.
